Introduction: Language Ladders Program is an innovative approach to language development utilizing specific techniques and methods to motivate students to learn other languages. Our primary goal is to give children and adults in our community the opportunity to advance their learning through language development. Vision: Our vision is to expose, empower, and elevate our children and adults to become bilingual and bi-literate. * We aim to directly impact our community by assisting our children and adults in becoming multilingual. * Our mission will be accomplished by providing the Language Ladders Program in every Public Library, School District, and Recreational Center throughout the DFW area. Levels Of Learning:
Language Ladders -Levels of Learning The BEGINNING language learner Beginning language learners do a lot of listening; just like babies listen to their native language for months before they begin saying words. The process works more quickly with adults due to association with their first language and children grasp new concepts readily. It is important to know that understanding the language still precedes speaking it. Beginning language learners will learn some key phrases (alphabets, consonants, vowels, greetings, colors, and animals, days of the week, and months of the year). While beginning learners can participate in a conversation, the teacher does most of the speaking, and the beginning learner will respond with single words and short phrases. Beginning learners participate in presentations with phrases they have memorized.
